ABSTRACT
Once the Environmental Assessment (EA) has been completed and read by the decisionmaker, the agency is in a position to reach a final determination regarding the significance or nonsignificance of the potential impacts. If the decisionmaker concludes that the action would not result in a significant impact, this determination is recorded in the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). This chapter presents the reader with the regulatory requirement for preparing and issuing a FONSI.
