ABSTRACT
On a federal level there are three primary governmental agencies tasked with regulatory responsibilities in the emergency and disaster area. The primary agency responsible for regulations and response for public emergencies is the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or commonly referred to as FEMA. This agency is responsible for a wide range of emergency related responsibilities ranging from flood insurance to response following a large scale disaster situation.
