ABSTRACT
Chemical reactions are not only important in industry, but they are also responsible for the processes that go on in our bodies to sustain life.
Biochemistry
is the name given to the study of chemicals and chemical reactions that are present in living biological systems. In this chapter we will learn about some of the major groups of chemicals that are important in living organisms and we will examine the various roles that are played by each of these chemical groups in sustaining life.
