ABSTRACT
In Chapter 5 a number of distributional models were introduced. These were selected for their simplicity and common use and also for their ability to act as components for the construction of more complex distributions. In this chapter we examine a number of distributional families that exemplify the building of complex models from simple ones. These will include some distributions that have explicit quantile functions but not explicit CDF or PDF. We also take the opportunity to comment on discrete distributions and other statistically important distributions that do not have explicit quantile functions.
