ABSTRACT
In Chapter 1 the main elements of the process of statistical modelling were introduced. These were summarized in Section 1.14. The iterative nature of the process should be emphasized. There is no guaranteed way of simply working through steps 1 to 5 to get a good fitted model. Let us illustrate some of the situations where one might need to follow one of the backward loops.
