As previously noted many pocket calculators and probably all statistical and spreadsheet software have an instruction RAND or RND. If this instruction is used repeatedly, it generates a series of numbers such as
0.669, 0.924, 0.740, 0.438, 0.631, 0.820, 0.144, 0.265, ….
