ABSTRACT
The goal of quantization is to accurately encode data using as little information (as few bits) as possible. Efficient and accurate parameter quantization is central to speech coding because pertinent information must be represented as accurately as the coding requirements dictate using as little information as possible. Quantization can be applied directly to a sampled speech waveform or to parameter files such as the output of a vocoder analysis.
