ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on important application of modeling human control strategy – namely human control strategy (HCS) model transfer. Transferring human control strategy has a lot of applications in areas from virtual reality and robotics to intelligent highway systems. The chapter introduces a learning algorithm for transferring skill from a teacher HCS model to an apprentice HCS model. It attempts to preserve important aspects of the apprentice model, while at the same time improving the apprentice model’s performance. The main goal of HCS transferring is that the apprentice HCS model should have the same characteristics as the teacher HCS model. The teacher model will be similar to the teacher’s control strategy, while the apprentice model will be similar to the apprentice’s control strategy. The new apprentice HCS model, which is the combination of the original apprentice HCS model and the compensation HCS model, obtains the “behavior” of teacher HCS model.
