ABSTRACT

In this chapter, "industrial accidents" refers to those mishaps that occur in the work environment and result in significant injury, product loss, or an adverse environmental impact. This covers an exceedingly broad range of topics. Injuries inay range from those confined to one area of the body, to paraplegia, to fatality, or even many fatalities. Also, the initial symptoms of an injury Inay be delayed and the injury Inay be progressively crippling. An example is the long-term effect of excessive exposure to asbestos and lead. The monetary loss from an industrial accident may range from thousands, to millions, and even to billions of dollars.
