ABSTRACT

Jasmonate Cascade Refers to the cascade of different (signaling, etc.) natural chemicals that are produced in response to certain pest insects chewing on some plant species. For example, in response to such insects chewing on the Nicotiana attenuata plant, the plant expresses lipoxygenase-3 and certain other enzymes that cause production (via oxylipin pathways) of jasmonic acid, which triggers specific plant defenses (e.g., systemic acquired resistance, etc.).
