ABSTRACT
Increasing scientific collaboration between national and international laboratories and also with industry
has resulted in an increased awareness of a need for accurate data comparison, including confidence
in assessing quality and reliability. The importance of standardization in measurements cannot be
overvalued, since without it the commercialization of research ideas and devices is threatened.
