ABSTRACT

Nutritional status and adiposity are significantly associated with a number of biochemical parameters, including serum lipids and lipoproteinemia (Anavian et al., 2001). Commonly, total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides are assessed (Lai et al., 2001). Apolipoprotein A1, B, and E have been analyzed in studies of obese children and youth less frequently. The results concerning the changes in lipid metabolism, one of the most regular phenomena accompanying obesity, are also mentioned in other chapters, along with the assessments of other parameters.
