ABSTRACT

Have you heard or read about the term “shape memory alloys” (SMAs) or “shape memory effect” (SME) and often wondered what the term and effect meant?

SMAs are a relatively new class of metallic materials with the unique property of SME. These alloys are becoming popular because of their shape memory characteristic, by which an article deformed at low temperature will revert to its original shape when healed to a high temperature.
