ABSTRACT
The basic organization of the three genomes present in plant cells is fundamentally different. The
chloroplast DNA (cpDNA)
molecule, typically ranging from 135 to 160 kb in size, is packed with genes and thus resembles the streamlined configuration of its cyanobacterial ancestral genome.
