ABSTRACT
Defects can be generated during assembly. In addition, as with laminate and substrate manufacturing, some defects discussed previously can also be precipitated during assembly operation. Sometimes these defects are not detected at the earlier stages of assembly, but mature, becoming observable through the many steps required to assemble a board. These defects can impact overall reliability, because they can randomly occur and grow, negatively affecting the quality of the assembly, and reducing reliability.
