ABSTRACT
There is a considerable amount of work in the area of active combustion control
of gaseous combustion (see [1, 2] for recent reviews on this topic). The majority
of these studies have dealt with a blu-body-stabilized combustor or a dump
combustor where the recirculation induced by a blu body or by a sudden ex-
pansion is used to stabilize the ame. Active control strategies have been used
to primarily suppress thermo-acoustic instabilities resulting from a coupling be-
tween the heat release and the acoustic modes in the combustor. These control
so
gies have also looked at improving fuel eÆciency and reducing pollutants [3], and
in extending ammability limits [4].
