ABSTRACT
Image recognition covers a wide range of diverse application areas (for example, security, surveillance, image-guided surgery, quality control, entertainment, autonomous navigation, and image retrieval by content). A fundamental requirement of an image-recognition system is the ability to automatically adjust to the changing environment or to be easily reusable for different tasks. For example, an effective objectdetection system is expected to be able to operate in rather different domains and for a relatively broad range of different objects.
