ABSTRACT

One of the challenges of the optical near-field technique, especially in the field of near-field data storage and spectroscopy, is how to increase the intensity of near-field light that is confined at the aperture or optical throughput. Optical throughput is defined as the ratio of the optical near-field power over the corresponding far-field power (or intensity). It is known that the optical throughput of an aperture NSOM probe is drastically decreased with decreasing the size of the aperture.
