ABSTRACT
This chapter considers physical aspects of the problem of fracture where, as many researchers believe,
the valuable solutions of many actual practical problems can be found. The main parameter that determines thermodynamic state of a solid is the MB factor (see Section 3.7). Section 6.2 shows that the MB factor introduces stress concentration into a structure while other factors aggravate it at higher scale levels.
