ABSTRACT

An alleged ritualistic crime scene should initially be handled like other crime scenes, however attention to specific clues will help determine whether the crime was the result of organized religious beliefs or individual ritualized activities. The symbols, forensics and artifacts found at the scene can help the investigator determine if the crime was conducted by an individual or member(s) of a group, identify the type of religious ritual, which establishes motivation, and determine whether that belief requires additional similar rituals that can signify future crimes.
