ABSTRACT

Description: Shape highly variable, elongate-cylindric to oval-convex or depressed; length from 1 to 17 mm (in our species); colors various, commonly bright or metallic, often dorsally bicolored and formed into distinctive patterns, often with pale pronotum and dark elytra; dorsum usually glabrous, vestiture when present sparse to dense and consisting of simple hairs or narrow to moderately wide scales which can be erect, inclined, or appressed.
