Chemiluminescent (CL)-based procedures have recently become one of the most popular methods for the immunoblot detection of proteins and nucleic acids. CL has been explored as an detection method alternative to the use of radioisotopes because it eliminates the health hazard, cost, and disposal problems inherent in handling radioactive reagents.
