The usage of radioactivity in basic molecular techniques is regarded hazardous when handling the relevant assays. In addition, radioactivity is burdening the environment for long time spans. Since Bronstein and McGrath
described forthcoming chemiluminescent approaches, these alternative assays have become widely used. The DIG-oxigenenine labeling and detection system is one of the systems that operates by chemiluminescent autoradiography.
