ABSTRACT
In the U.S., we have a criminal justice system (though it may be among the best in the world) that is marginally effective because of heavy case overloads and the relative inefficiency of the crowded courts to address the situation. We also have a culture where violence is sensationalized in the media, the movies, and on television.
