ABSTRACT
Performing any operation with ultrasonic waves means transmitting them from one medium to another where the measurement or actuation is to be performed. In other cases, the objective may be to retain a wave in a given medium and prevent it from radiating out into the environment. In either case, a good understanding of the principles of reflection and transmission of ultrasonic waves is essential.
