ABSTRACT
Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO), the delivery of oxygen at greater than atmospheric pressure, has been shown to be a safe and efficacious treatment for a number of disease processes. Controversy remains over its use for patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke, however. This chapter will attempt to review the existing literature and the theory behind its application to these patients.
