ABSTRACT

This chapter brings us to the end of this book. We have discussed various multimedia data management technologies and issues of multimedia data mining. We described how multimedia might be applied to the Web and electronic commerce. As stated in this book, multimedia for the Web is an integration of multiple technologies and has applications in e-commerce. This chapter summarizes the contents of this book and then provides an overview of the challenges and directions in multimedia data management and mining for the Web. We also give the reader some suggestions as to where to go from here.
