ABSTRACT

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is the most popular thermal analysis technique [1]. DSC is designed to measure endothermic and exothermic transitions as a function of temperature [1]. It measures a range of thermal events including melting, crystallization, glass transitions, curing reactions, and decomposition reactions. It is widely used to characterize polymers, metals, pharmaceuticals, and organic and inorganic compounds [2-6]. DSC’s merits include small sample sizes (less than 20 mg), a wide temperature range (typically −120 to 600°C) of measurement, simple operation, and rapid measurement.
