ABSTRACT

Cogongrass [I. cylindrica (L.) Beauv.] is one of the most cosmopolitan grass species throughout the tropical and subtropical regions and is considered to be one of the 10 most troublesome and problematic weedy species in the world. It is considered a weedy pest in over 73 countries with over 100 common names associated with it, including cogongrass, japgrass, speargrass, alang-alang, and bladygrass. Cogongrass

is found in every continent except Antarctica and is generally associated with areas disturbed by human activities.
