The Extension of Molecular and Computational Information to Risk Assessment and Regulatory Decision Making*

This chapter attempts to anticipate how omics technologies could improve decisions through their application to risk assessments at present and in the future, what omics technologies are unlikely to accomplish for the foreseeable future, what systemic barriers exist for risk assessors that may inhibit or diminish the use of omics technologies (at least for the near term), and which weaknesses and shortcomings of omics technologies should be the focus of research efforts.
