ABSTRACT
Alkyd resins represent a class of polymers that are used in surface coating formulations because of their low cost and versatility. The term “alkyd” was coined by Kienle and Ferguson
and is derived from “al” of alcohol and “cid” of acid; “cid” was later changed to “kyd.”
