ABSTRACT
The first phase in the DMAIC model is Definition. As might be expected of a philosophy that has as one of its tenets making fact-based decisions, the objective of this phase is to understand the problem to be solved and the process that will be changed as part of the problem resolution so that the correct decisions can be made.
