ABSTRACT

The people who conduct examinations on various types of evidence in death investigations are called

forensic scientists

. The disciplines in the forensic sciences overlap somewhat and have been categorized by different classifications. Although all of them are referred to as sciences, there is an element of art involved, too. Not all analyses are straightforward or can be proven, and results of tests must often be interpreted with opinions, which creates the possibility of a nonscientific approach and errors.
