ABSTRACT

Crosslinking agents Crosslinking agents are used to form chemical links between molecular chains and create a threedimensional network of connected molecules. The vulcanization process used in rubber is an example of how crosslinking is used to convert raw rubber from a weak plastic to a highly resilient elastomer. This strategy is also used to control and enhance the properties of polymer systems in thermosets and coatings. The degree of crosslinking can have a profound impact on the swelling characteristics of the crosslinked system.
