ABSTRACT

Thus far we have discussed performance improvement at the organizational, team, and individual levels. This has included descriptions of some interventions, or ways of working to develop increased performance. Interventions discussed to this point have been strategic planning and cascading goals, building a learning organization, hiring, developing managers, team development, some more recent programs focused on organizational effectiveness and efficiency, and performance improvement programs. This chapter focuses completely on the role of the individual employee and his or her performance in all of this.
