ABSTRACT
Panic disorder is a highly prevalent psychiatric disorder with significant associated morbidity. The disorder often begins with spontaneous panic attacks, characterized by sympathetic discharge. Agoraphobia and other avoidance behavior may follow these attacks. Ultimately, significant distress and marked impairment of social and occupational function may be seen.
