ABSTRACT

There are several different types of multiple-site recording electrodes designed to effectively increase the yield of recorded neurons (Table 2.1; see also Chapter 1). In most instances these electrodes are easy to use. However, they are designed to work optimally under certain conditions, and this must be considered when selecting the appropriate electrode for the application. Moreover, successful recordings are dependent on proper handling of the electrode. Generally, special care must be used when

the electrodes are implanted. Successful use of these electrodes requires skill acquired through practice.
