ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter the structure and formation of the friction skin was described. The first part of this chapter will capsulize that information in a discussion about the premises of friction ridge identification. Clarity will be defined and new terminology will be introduced. The identification process will then be presented and the information reported in the previous chapter will be applied to the friction ridge identification process.
