ABSTRACT

Today we are on the verge of witnessing a revolution in automotive technology. Although many components and systems are still in the prototype stage of development, other components and systems are now offered as either a standard or an extra-cost option on numerous product lines. For example, automobile navigation systems have not only reached a level of mass marketing for use in vehicles, but in addition, the display area used for vehicle navigation is now integrated to provide images from real-time cameras mounted to display vehicle blind spots, permitting the driver to view the surrounding area without having to extend his or her head outside the window or become a contortionist when attempting to determine how close his or her vehicle is to a curb when parking.
