Seismic Qualification of Equipment

Vibration testing is used in product qualification. Here, the objective is to test the adequacy of a product

of good quality for a specific use in a typical operating environment. Clearly, the nature of testing and the

test requirements, including test specifications, will depend on the type of application and the class of

product. In this chapter, we will consider just two types of product qualification: distribution

qualification and seismic qualification. Procedures of vibration testing for other types of qualification

will be similar.
