ABSTRACT

Courses in biochemistry generally include a practical component, and most of the experiments in the practical component involve (biochemical) calculations. The experiments in the practical program in different courses can vary considerably, and so too the necessary calculations. The questions included in this chapter relate to the author’s teaching experience. The questions are written in a stand-alone fashion, meaning that all the necessary information needed for solving the questions is provided in the questions themselves. Students are invited to attempt them for two reasons: (a) the questions directly or indirectly will assist in problems related to their practical programs and (b) these questions represent a real biochemical experimental approach of investigation: working out values or discovering principles (undergraduate students, usually, illustrate principles). The biochemical techniques relating to the problems (questions) in this chapter have all been introduced in the earlier chapters.
