ABSTRACT
The National Comorbidity Survey of the general adult population in the U.S. studied lifetime and 12-month comorbidity in more than 8000 subjects: the lifetime prevalence for any substance misuse or dependence disorder was 26.6% and 12-month prevalence was 11.3%, with males having
approximately twice the rates of women.
