ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1 we explained that the characteristics of EM fields and their interactions with objects vary dramatically with the ratio of the wavelength of the EM fields to the object size. The purpose of this chapter is to describe in detail the behavior of EM fields and their interaction with objects when the wavelength is large compared to the size of the object. As indicated by Figure 1.31, the wavelength in free space is 300 m when the frequency is 1 MHz.
