ABSTRACT
There is a class of problems involving second-order ODEs, which plays an essential role in the solution of partial differential equations. Below we present the main results concerning such problems, thus laying the founda tion for the methods of separation of variables and eigenfunction expansion developed in Chapters 5 and 7.
