ABSTRACT
Although interviews typically take place outside a formalized setting, proper preparation for the interview or interrogation is essential for its successful conclusion. Many field interviews taking place on the street or at a place of business outside the control of the interrogator must rely on the locations at hand to provide a proper setting. The decision to interview a witness or suspect should be handled with a careful eye toward the ultimate goal of the conversation.
