ABSTRACT

This chapter explores several kinds of BASIC Stamp controllers used in robotic kits and examines the BASIC Stamp Editor. The BASIC Stamp is a microcontroller developed by Parallax, Inc. It is programmable using a form of BASIC language called PBASIC (Parallax BASIC). The PBASIC language is a hybrid of the BASIC programming language, and has been designed to exploit all the BASIC Stamp’s capabilities. The BASIC Stamp line consists of the BASIC Stamp 1, the BASIC Stamp 2, the BASIC Stamp 2e, BASIC Stamp 2p, and the BASIC Stamp 2sx. The BASIC Stamp 2 is available in two physical versions. The first is the BS2-IC, which is a 24-pin dual inline package with surface-mounted components. The second is the OEMBS2, which features an easier-to-trace layout meant to aid customers who wish to integrate the BASIC Stamp 2 circuit directly into their design.
