ABSTRACT

From the rheological viewpoint, pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) can be described in general as viscoelastic materials with a specifi c complex of rheological properties. Under shear load they demonstrate creep behavior that can lead to failure of the adhesive joint. Shear resistance characterizes a PSA’s ability to resist shearing forces. Shear resistance is also sometimes termed holding power [1] (see also Applications of PressureSensitive Products, Chapter 8).
