ABSTRACT
A number of classical problems, attributed to some famous mathematicians belonging to the early school of probability theory, have connections to Po´lya urns and other types of urns. We review a few of these problems in this chapter. In later chapters we shall revisit these problems and recast most of them within the Po´lya urn framework.
