ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we analyze two properties of partial words: conjugacy and commutativity.

We start by investigating the case for full words and then extend our results to include partial words.

Suppose x, y, and z are words such that xz = zy. We are interested to know what the relationships between these words must be. Upon inspection, we observe that z must coincide with x in its first part and also with y in its second part. We illustrate with an example.
