ABSTRACT

Arid region water resources are dependent on surface features, which play a most significant role in the formation and occurrence of rainfall, and also characterize surface water types (runoff, flood, flash flood) and the formation of groundwater reservoirs, which are replenished through infiltration. It is assumed in this chapter that surface vegetation or forest cover is almost nonexistent, and only geological features in terms of rock outcrops and geomorphologic characteristics are important for water resources occurrence, distribution, and movement in any wadi system.
